Our country, Greece, is a country located in southeastern Europe on the southern end of the Balkan Peninsula, Eastern Mediterranean. The capital and largest city of Greece is Athens.

It borders to the North on Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia, to the Northwest on Albania, to the Northeast on Turkey; to the West it is washed by the Ionian Sea; to the South by the Mediterranean Sea and to the East by the Aegean Sea.

Greece is one of the countries with the longest coastline at 13,676 km, and has several islands including Crete (our island!), the Dodecanese, the Cyclades, the Ionian Islands and many others.

It has a long, rich history which brought about great cultural influence on the three neighboring continents. The ideals of Democracy and Philosophy were born here! Finally, Greece is the birthplace of the Olympic Games, drama, tragedy and comedy.
