Sexual confusion in the vineyards, during organic farming

Confusing male grapevine moths during organic farming at Douloufakis Vineyards

We’ve been applying the method known as "confusion" for second year, consistent to the principals of organic farming we implement.

The artificial pheromone, released by the sprayers we’ve installed at the vineyards, confuses the male grapevine moths (Lobesia botrana) and prevents them to come in contact with the females. Thus the moth population is gradually decreasing.

This environmental sustainable practice keeps under control moth population while it has no effect on other insects.
